The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Wednesday invited Indian health experts to participate in its proposed health management business.
The Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, said this in a statement released in Abuja by Ndu Ughamadu, Group Managing Director, Group Public Affairs, NNPC.
Baru said the invitation was in a bid to stem the tide of medical tourism.
He said the proposed health management business will be a one-stop-shop for medical care in Nigeria.
Baru said he was looking forward to having Indian health companies partner with the corporation to upgrade NNPC hospitals to a level where they can handle medical emergencies in the country.
He urged the Indian business delegation to ”look beyond oil and gas” in its dealings with NNPC as the corporation was re-tooling its non-core businesses to be revenue earners.
Earlier, Mahender Kanyal, Head of Chancery of the high Commission of India, who led the delegation of businessmen, said the visit was to strengthen the business relations between Nigeria and India “to meet the growth aspirations of both countries”.
